Welcome to Richard Appleyard's Home Page
I specialize in technology usability and accessibility through the principles of Universal Design and User-centered Research. I am currently a Clinical Assistant Professor in Medical Informatics at OHSU with focus on the usability and accessibilty of healthcare information. I also focus on Disability Informatics a field that researches the use of information technology by people with disabilities. I am Chair of the Internet Professionals SIG (IP-SIG) at the Software Association of Oregon.
